Options for Travel To/From Seward
Due to the logistics of getting to this remote Alaskan paradise, it’s almost always necessary to spend a night in Seward prior to starting your trip with us. Here are a few suggestions:
1. Stay with us! We can pick you up in Anchorage between 2:30 and 3 p.m. and bring you to our Kenai Riverside Lodge in Cooper Landing. When you arrive, we’ll show you to your private riverside cabin, provide a four course meal and take you to Seward to meet the boat in the morning after breakfast. When you return from Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge, we’ll take you to meet the train from Seward back to Anchorage. This particular section of the Alaska Railroad is really spectacular. Arrive in Anchorage by 10:30 p.m. (Additional $620 per person).
2. Alaska Railroad. Arrive in Seward a day early by taking the Alaska Railroad from Anchorage to Seward. Spend a day exploring Seward and spend a night in this charming town before departing to Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge. When you return from the lodge, we can have you back at the depot before it departs back to Anchorage at 6:00 p.m.
3. The Parks Connection is a motor coach company that provides connections between Seward, Anchorage and Denali. Meet the bus at 7 a.m. at the Egan Center in downtown Anchorage and arrive in Seward at 9:45 a.m. Take this day to explore Seward! You would need to book this mode of transportation on your own. Don’t forget one option is to take the Parks Connection to Seward and take the Alaska Railroad back!
4. Hertz Rental Cars is the only rental car company in Seward and also happens to be directly next to our office in Seward. One option is to rent a Hertz car in Anchorage, drop it off in Seward and then take the train back! One-way cars can sometimes be difficult to rent, so book in advance. If you have a rental car from another company, we will certainly find a suitable place to park your car while you’re at our lodge.
Located roughly 2.5 hours south of Anchorage, the small community of Seward, Alaska acts as the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park. Boat access to Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge departs from the Seward Harbor; this transfer to the Glacier Lodge doubles as a marine wildlife and glacier cruise in Kenai Fjords National Park.
