For those visitors to the Kenai Peninsula who have just a bit of time to spend with us, our Two-Hour Kenai River Scenic Float is a wonderful way to venture into beautiful, wild Alaska for part of the day! The Kenai River is world famous and, in our opinion, one of the most special waterways in Alaska, and it won’t take long to see why on this scenic float of the river.

Our Kenai Riverside Lodge is right on the banks of the Kenai River in Cooper Landing, and this will be the starting point of this rafting adventure! After an introduction to the area on the grounds of the lodge and gearing up (all equipment is provided including rubber boots, rain gear and personal flotation devices), we’ll push off into the non-motorized stretch of the upper Kenai River through Kenai National Wildlife Refuge.

This stretch of the river is perfect for wildlife sightings; have your camera ready as we keep an eye out for moose, eagles, Dall sheep, salmon, waterfowl, beavers and bears as your guide navigates you through snow-capped mountain scenery. This is also a great chance to learn from your guide about Alaskan natural & cultural history, including information about the wildlife, stories about the native inhabitants and early settlers, and the forces of nature that shaped the Kenai River Valley.

We end our time together with a ride back to Kenai Riverside Lodge, where you can continue on with your Alaska adventure plans! The Two-Hour Kenai River Scenic Float can be booked ahead of time, and we do accept walk-ins if we have space in our rafts that day. For those with more time to spend with us, our longer Kenai Canyon Rafting Trip is a full-day exploration of the Kenai River and includes a picnic lunch, spirited Class II+ rapids and a visit to glacier-fed Skilak Lake.

Alaska Wildland Adventures began operating trips in 1977, which included visits to the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge and the Kenai River. Rafting and fishing trips were introduced soon after, and we’ve been proud to enjoy exploring at the River’s pace ever since. Alaska Wildland Adventures also owns and operates three wilderness lodges on the Kenai Peninsula: Kenai Riverside Lodge, Kenai Backcountry Lodge and Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge. These lodges can be booked as independent Lodge Vacation Packages or as part of our all-inclusive Guided Adventures.
More information about Kenai National Wildlife Refuge can be found on our website here and here, or you can check out the page on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service website.
