Arctic Ocean Adventures

Travel to the shores of the Arctic Ocean along the rugged and extremely remote Dalton Highway to Prudhoe Bay. You will make several crossings along the way: the Yukon River; the Arctic Circle; and the Brooks Mountain range. There are many opportunities for wildlife sightings including grizzly bears, caribou, and the unique musk ox. Arrive at the Arctic Ocean, and tour the start of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Arctic Ocean Adventure - Northbound

A 3-day Round Trip Journey by Land & Air to Alaska's Arctic Circle

Day 1: Depart Fairbanks at approximately 8:30 a.m. Ground tour north in the personalized comfort of tour vans. Visit the Arctic Circle Trading Post situated in the rural community of Joy, Alaska. Travel on the rugged Dalton Highway made famous during construction of the Trans Alaska Pipeline. Marvel at the majestic beauty of the Yukon River, the northland's most famous waterway, and learn of the river's storied past. Cross over the Arctic Circle in ceremonious fashion and receive an official Arctic Circle Adventure Certificate. Overnight at rustic Coldfoot nestled in the Brooks Mountain Range.

Day 2: Pass through the majestic Brooks Mountain Range and cross over the Continental Divide at Atigun Pass. Explore up close the amazing arctic tundra of the Arctic Coastal Plain and feel the veins of ice just beneath the surface. Overnight at Prudhoe Bay.

Day 3: Complete the journey by dipping your toe in the frigid waters of the Arctic Ocean at Prudhoe Bay. Fly back to Fairbanks, arriving between 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm (flight times and types of planes can vary).

Barrow Extension: Get a firsthand glimpse of the lifestyle of Alaska’s Arctic Coastal people with a tour of the village.  Walk the shores of the Arctic Ocean near the northernmost point in North America.
