KRC Campground Hosts / Innkeepers

Campground Host

The position is that of a "live-in host," similar to the customary role at state and federal campgrounds but with additional administrative and housekeeping duties as determined by the Campground Manager. We do not seek couples for the two host positions as they need to have opposite days off.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities of Position:

The primary duties are to perform the role of a "live-in hosts" at the Kenai Riverside Campground as well as Innkeeper for the Bed and Breakfast-style accomodations offered on-site. Campground hosts/innkeepers are also expected to take advance and walk-in sales for the campgroud as well as Alaska Wildland Adventures' rafting and fishing day trips on the Kenai River. Hosts will be responsible for greeting arriving campers and checking them in (explaining rules and regulations, offering suggestions for trip planning, etc).

Other duties include campground security, housekeeping of the Bed and Breakfast rooms, continental breakfast set-up and upkeep and light maintenance around the campground (litter pickup, stocking of supplies, making emergency minor repairs and painting picnic tables).

The Campground Hosts and Innkeepers are expected to set an example for guests by being model campers themselves - practicing good housekeeping in and around the host site and by observing all rules.

The Campground Hosts and Innkeepers will be required to work for five days of the week, which may or may not include weekends and holidays, depending upon the schedule arranged with the Campground Manager. On-duty hours will be mutually agreed between the Campground Manager and the Hosts/Innkeepers, but 40-50 hour availability periods should be expected at busy times of the season. The Hosts and Innkeepers should be expected to be "on-call" to answer questions and deal with emergencies whenever they are present on the site.

Period of Service:

The season generally begins May 15 and extends through September 30. Some flexibility may be possible.

Benefits:

Campground Hosts will receive complimentary RV site (if applicable) with utilities for the duration of employment. For employees without an RV, housing will be provided at no charge. Hosts also receive complimentary full-day canyon raft or fishing trip with Alaska Wildland Adventures and a complimentary two-night stay at Kenai Backcountry Lodge (space available basis). Pay is DOE.
