Day 1/Arrival: Plan to arrive in Alaska by at least the afternoon the day your trip begins. Take the Inlet Tower Suites shuttle from the airport to the hotel, located at 1200 L Street, close to downtown Anchorage. This first hotel night is included in the trip price. At 6 p.m. meet your Trip Leader and fellow travelers for dinner and orientation. We'll be dining at our hotel's restaurant; the well-known "Mixx Grill" for Alaskan infused international cuisine and an orientation to the next week of our adventure together. (D)

Day 2: Say farewell to the city of Anchorage and travel along the majestic Turnagain Arm to the small mountain community of Girdwood. Today's adventure is an air excursion to one of the surrounding glaciers to try our hand at the famous Alaskan sport of dog-mushing. High on the snow-pack, drive the sled yourself or if you prefer, ride in the sled as you enjoy the dramatic scenery. Afterward bundle yourself up in actual Iditarod racing gear including an original bib-number for a once in a lifetime photo opportunity. Late afternoon we will continue south to the Kenai Riverside Lodge, located along the banks of the world-class Kenai River. Settle into your cabin, and enjoy appetizers and dinner in the main lodge. (B, L, D)

Day 3: Today's focus: an Introduction to flyfishing, where you will become familiar with the equipment and techniques for casting along the banks of the Kenai River. We'll break into groups of 3 or 4 for this full day of fishing. This is a fantastic time of year for giant rainbow trout and Dolly Varden. Salmon are also in the river, so you'll get a chance to try out both heavy and light weight fly rods. Our guides row drift boats, and pull over along the riverside for flyfishing and a gourmet picnic lunch. This evening, dinner and overnight at the Kenai Riverside Lodge. (B, L, D)

Day 4: After breakfast we'll travel a short distance to the town of Moose Pass to board float planes for the marvelous flight to nearby Upper Russian Lake, where we'll land for our casual hike back to civilization. The flight takes us in view of stunning mountain scenery, and a distant glacier. Our hike this afternoon is a gentle forest trail that winds along a lake and stream through stunning coniferous deciduous rainforest. We'll enjoy a picnic lunch en route, and be back to the Kenai Riverside Lodge for dinner. (B,L,D)

Day 5: Today's adventure will take the group to the quaint seacoast town of Seward, where you'll board a small boat for a tour of the Kenai Fjords National Park. The ocean, snow peaked mountains, massive tidewater glaciers, and wildlife combine for a dramatic landscape and experience. Our group will be dropped off to explore an area near the face of a glacier by sea-kayak. No experience is necessary for this excursion; we'll paddle slowly up a gentle stream and wander our kayaks among floating pieces of glacial ice. This evening, we return to the Kenai Riverside Lodge for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)

Day 6: After breakfast our group will saddle up and hit the trail for a day of horseback riding. Today's destination is a mountain lake, accessed by riding along a wilderness trail through the Chugach National Forest. The trail to Crescent Lake is a climbing stretch of switchbacks and beautiful scenery, which we'll follow along for approximately 6 miles to the lake. After a picnic lunch and some time to explore the area, we'll meander our way back down the trail. This evening, enjoy a well-earned farewell dinner and final evening at Kenai Riverside Lodge. (B, L, D)

Day 7: After breakfast bid farewell to your home away from home, Kenai Riverside Lodge, and return transfer to Anchorage. Your Trip Leader will drop you off at either the Anchorage Airport or your airport-area hotel at approximately 12:30 p.m. (B)
